Don't Give Up on Advertising Career

Q.. I worked for an ad agency 18 years and have been laid off because the whole industry is in turmoil. No one has money to advertise, and if they do, they can't figure out where to do it. I'm depressed and wonder if I should stop looking for a job in advertising, and start doing something else.

Ans. No quite so fast. While news has been bleak in this sector for a long time, things are starting to improve. A recent survey by The Creative Group Hiring Index for Marketing and Advertising Professionals showed some plans to increase staff levels among those interviewed, and that's a four-point increase from last year. Not a lot, but something. Meanwhile, find any job you can to keep your spirits up and to give you somewhere to go and something productive to do each day.
