Boss IS Sending Signal

Q.3. MY BOSS HAS A NEW TOY. Whenever I walk over to his desk to speak with him he gets very busy working his Smart phone, acting as though he has no time to be disturbed. I can see there aren't calls, just busy games and Facebook, Before he had this phone he used to reach for his regular desk phone after I had said just a few words, again making it clear he doesn't want to spend anytime talking to me. Shall I take this personally? I see him do it to others who are not his superiors. How do I respond?

A.HE'S SENDING A MESSAGE YOU ARE NOT GETTING: He definitely does not want to spend time talking to you. He's one of many who used to use their phones to show people they are too busy to chat, and now he's switched to his electronic toy. Meet him on the same level. Next time you have important information to relay, write it in a text memo, with a cc to his superior so he knows you are not just wasting time when you ask for his attention. And do not ever do that.
